Wow, and yet again, you put into words all the things that I go through with any interaction.

I love that you are such an amazing voice for us! :)

Such kinds words! There’s something weirdly comforting about realizing we’re all out here quietly dealing with the same stuff. 😺

I love this and suspect I have a better understanding of the number of decisions we make daily. No wonder we are exhausted by the end of the day!!

This is looks so helpful! I don't do outside social activities but I do spend time with my adult children, take courses and undertake various media projects. All require a degree of interaction and effort. I am working on pacing to avoid burnout and think a lot of this applies. Thank you!

That sounds like a rich way to live, full of connection and effort. Projects, courses, time with your kids... that all pulls from the same energy bank. You're so right that burnout doesn’t always come from overload, sometimes it creeps in. I'm trying to work on pacing as well! Easier said than done for sure.

Thanks for saying that! For me this has been the biggest part of unmasking. Not how I do or don't perform in public (which will never be something I care about) but just giving myself permission to be who I am--ideally without letting my hyperfixations override everything.

Yes! I wish more people understood this and didn't push for instant answers or question 'No's'. If I've said no, it's not only been really thought through but it was also hard because I am so programmed to say yes to make others happy.

I don’t know how we remain upright (I type as I’m lying down with my pup letting the day drain out of my being). Thank you Ang!

I don’t know either 😆 Some days I think we stay upright out of habit more than strength. Thank you for sharing that, and for making space for what I wrote.

Behind the brain thought process to make a decision. Being retired has certain benefits, close friends are close and get ya and will let you be you. Talk or chill, respond as needed, nice.

This is so good! And your image reminds me also of boobs, neural pathways and a placenta. But I’m assuming it’s a tree above the below ground?

Autistic Ang's avatar

Thank you! And it is a tree! I admit I've stared much too long at the image trying to find some boobs. 😆 Where do you see those?

If you look at an internal diagram of breast glands, then turn the tree image on its sides, take ten steps back away from your screen, close one eye, and squint with the other, you might make it out too..? 😹
