Right now, my writing, my cat, and my workout regimen are the main things enabling me to hold myself together through the national tragedy our nation is experiencing.

Thank you for sharing that! And for your comments, of which I look forward to. My writing, cat, and chocolate are what’s keeping me going 😊And people like you to remind me I’m not alone, it’s not just me.

Thanks, I'm glad that I could make you feel less alone. Never in my life have I been this ashamed, embarrassed, and not to mention frightened by the actions of our politicians in this country. I keep hoping that this might be the death nell for MAGA as many former supporters are now awakening to the reality of it. Let's just hope it doesn't prove to be a lesson learned too late.

Exactly! Completely agree. Talk about taking stuff for granted. Over the years I've told myself that I'm so lucky I don't live in countries that have dictators who take away people's rights. Never in my life did I imagine this country would turn into one of those.

Exactly, I recently found out that because one my paternal grandmother was born in Portugal, that this could give me a leg up towards being approved for Portuguese citizenship, should I decide to leave the country. But the weird irony there is that my grandmother immigrated to the states with my Great Grandparents when she was a very young girl. They all left Portugal in the early twentieth century because of social and political upheaval in the old country. I doubt they would have ever envisioned one of their descendants seriously considering migrating back to the old country for the same reason they left. Hopefully I won't come down to that for me. Don't get me wrong, I've been to Portugal and very much loved it there but actually living in another country and adjusting to a different culture and perhaps language is never easy.
